The latest internet tablet around the block: Nokia N900

Have you been playing around with the N800/N810 internet tablet for the last few months or so? Are you looking to graduate to an all new level of mobile internet telephony? Well, for all you tech-geeks, Nokia has ushered in some great news- the N900 is all set to be launched and this internet tablet is one of the most advanced and sophisticated pieces of equipment to have surfaced this year. With ‘3G’ connectivity, photo sharing options and a great new OS, the N900 has proved to be far better than anticipated and Nokia has definitely hit the nail on the head with the launch of the N900. In this write up, we would be running an up-close and personal review of this new babe.

The Nokia N900 is all set to debut in the later part of this year and with its grand launch at the Nokia World Event in Germany, the phone has already started making waves amongst those looking for a better version of the N810 series. The phone will be the first Nokia model to be based on the high-end Ti-OMAP3 Microprocessor and will run on a Linux based OS- thus ensuring that the N900 complies with the best internet telephony standards existent in the market currently. With a price tag of about 500 Euros, the phone is expensive, though it appears to be pretty well priced when compared to the competing models present in the market.

Apart from being an all out internet tablet, the Nokia N900 is a great phone to own. The phone is aesthetically designed, has one of the best touch interfaces in the market (thanks to the Maemo 5 OS) and has some of the most thoughtfully designed applications that gel together really well and give the phone an ultra classy feel. The Cortex core at the heart of the TI-OMAP3 processor adds a lot of zing to the phone. The processor is optimized for hassle free internet access and according to the initial reports; it pretty much succeeds in doing what was expected out of such a high-end internet tablet processor.

Now, if you thought Nokia had focussed their RnD only on internet usage and design aesthetics part- you were wrong! Nokia has gone a step ahead and tried to create an internet tablet capable of delivering the goods in the 3G environment. Combined with its internet browsing capabilities, comes a high-resolution camera, a great music player (which is observably better than the music players you generally associate with Nokia phones) and some great touch screen widgets and add-ons. The camera boasts of a hefty 5 MP resolution, which is enough to kill the best in the industry. The music player (presumably) has been designed keeping only one thing in mind- to beat the iPhone to the core. In fact, the Nokia N900 seems to have borrowed the best features from the best phones in the market, tweaked these features a notch up and clubbed all of these together into a single device. All this translates into great news for those who have been looking for a device that has Blackberry’s internet browsing capabilities, coupled with Sony’s picture taking capabilities and sprinkled with a music player that gives even the iPhone a run for its money. In short, the Nokia N900 is a gadget lover’s epitome of romance!
